Harare: Veteran Stafanie Taylor rolled back the years with a vintage all-round display as West Indies Women thrashed Zimbabwe Women by eight wickets in the third T20I at Takashinga Sports Club on Wednesday, completing a 3-0 series sweep.
Taylor first strangled Zimbabwe with the ball, returning 2 for 8 from four overs — including her 100th T20I wicket when she had Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano stumped — as the hosts were held to 142 for 6. Kelis Ndhlovu’s 48-ball 63, her fifth T20I half-century, was the lone bright spark for Zimbabwe, with six fours and three sixes.
The chase was never in doubt. After Realeanna Grimmond fell for 17, Taylor joined Jahzara Claxton in a 71-run second-wicket stand, then accelerated with Jannillea Glasgow (15 not out) to finish 64 not out off 39 balls with 11 fours, sealing victory with 18 balls to spare.
The result rounded off a highly successful tour for the Windies, who had earlier won the ODI series 2-1. Claxton was named Player of the Series for her 73 runs and seven wickets. Notably absent was 17-year-old Eboni Brathwaite, who missed the decider with shoulder discomfort days after smashing the fastest-ever WT20I fifty by a West Indies woman in the second T20I.
