Rashid Reclaims No.1; Iyer Enters Top 10

Dubai: Rashid Khan is back on top of the ICC Men’s T20I bowling rankings, reclaiming the No.1 spot from Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed in the latest update released on October 7.

Abrar’s stay at the summit lasted barely a fortnight. After climbing to No.1 on September 23, the Pakistan spinner managed just one wicket in two matches at the Asian Games, slipping to second on 718 rating points — two behind Rashid, who retook top spot without bowling a ball.

India’s Axar Patel was the biggest mover among bowlers, jumping 16 places to seventh, while Bangladesh pair Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan climbed to eighth and ninth respectively. Pakistan’s Mohammad Nawaz dropped four places to 12th and Salman Mirza slid seven spots to 23rd.

Iyer storms the batting charts

India captain Shreyas Iyer broke into the T20I batting top 10 for the first time, rising 18 places to seventh after his maiden T20I century in the series against West Indies. Ishan Kishan (913 points) and Abhishek Sharma (862) continue to hold the top two spots, with Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan third.

West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford climbed 10 places to 37th after his half-century in the same series, while Jasprit Bumrah’s return to India’s T20I side lifted him seven places into the top 10 bowlers.

Batting: India on top

The batting summit remains an Indian stronghold. Kishan’s 913 rating points keep him clear of Abhishek Sharma (862), with Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan third on 848 after topping the run charts at his maiden ICC tournament. England’s Phil Salt (799) and South Africa’s Dewald Brevis (789) complete a top five packed with aggressive openers.

Iyer’s leap to seventh — sealed by that maiden century against West Indies — is the standout story, but Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav also sit in the top ten, underlining India’s extraordinary batting depth.

Bowling: Rashid’s crown

Behind Rashid and Abrar, England’s Adil Rashid holds third with Australia’s Adam Zampa fourth. Varun Chakravarthy, the joint-highest wicket-taker at the T20 World Cup, sits fifth — a reminder that rankings reward consistency over tournaments. Bumrah’s return to the top ten, in tenth, adds another Indian to the bowling elite.

With the Ashes and a packed white-ball calendar ahead, expect this table to keep shifting.

Team picture

India remain the No.1 T20I side on 273 rating points, ahead of England (259) and Australia (258), underlining their dominance in the format after the World Cup triumph earlier this year.
